Wendy's Bacon & Blue Burger

Wendy's new Bacon & Blue Burger has blue cheese crumbles and smoked bacon, with sautéed onions and steakhouse sauce.

"We've heard loud and clear that our customers love the new Applewood smoked bacon," says Ken Calwell, chief marketing officer for Wendy's. "This great bacon and real blue cheese crumbles takes the Bacon and Blue hamburger to a whole new level and offers gourmet taste for a value price."

The Bacon & Blue is available for a limited time and priced at $4.29.

The burger has 680 calories and 40 grams of fat. It proudly serves up 75% of your daily Saturated Fat intake (15 grams). Here are the complete nutritional facts:

I don't normally do this, but while I was checking to see if I could add this burger to our HFCS-free Fast Food list, I couldn't help but notice the rather extensive list of ingredients, so I decided to include them ALL right here. Seems like a lot... even for a 'fancy' burger! By the way, 3 elements of the burger have High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), the bun, the Creamy Steakhouse Spread and the ketchup; the mayonnaise just has regular corn syrup. Can we stop encouraging the HFCS hysteria?

Some folks claim that HFCS is evil because it has more fructose than sugar. First, that's only true for HFCS-55 or greater, and HFCS-55 isn't the preferred choice for baked goods. Moveover, agave nectar and the sugars in many of the fruits we eat have a similar fructose/glucose balance.

And even if being higher in fructose is worse, the HFCS used in baked goods is generally *lower* in fructose than regular sugar.

There are various reasons why fructose and glucose can be better or worse for you in different balances, but categorically associating HFCS with negative effects is silly considering how HFCS is on either side of sucrose, depending on the blend.

Overall sugar consumption has risen over the years, and that just happens to correspond with the development of HFCS and the existence of a crazy subsidy scheme that makes HFCS cheaper than sugar.

I tried the Bacon and Bleu Burger today out of curiosity. I only got the burger and a water, as I am on a strict water-only diet (I've lost 25lbs, don't knock it). I wasn't overly impressed with this new burger as it was smaller then I thought it would be and of course, doesn't look like the promo picture on the drive-thru. My advice is to request that they make the burger fresh for you, on the spot. I saw no pickles on my burger either...and barely any onions to speak of. The burger cost too much ($4.81 w/tax). I know why I don't eat out hardly at all!

just so you know, bacon and blue cheese hamburgers don't have ketchup, or pickles or mayonnaise. id know, i work there. for regular condiments it only has lettuce and tomatoes.

I wish I had read this entry before I had the burger. It was expensive ($4.60 for me) and I agree, it wasn't very good. Not huge, but many calories and fat - not worth either from my perspective. They did a good job of selling it. - Hyped

I ordered the bacon and blue...without the sauce....went home and put A1 steak sauce on it. It was damn good.

I think that this is the most deliscious thing I've ever eaten from wendys .I love the bacon and blue and if I could legally marry this sandwich I would

A water-only diet with no signs of curbing the fast food intake is like putting lipstick on a pig

they make it sound good, look good but they can't make it good.
big disappointment. not worth the money and calories.

I had one this aft, loved it, just ran out again to see if it was as good as I thought it had been, and it was even better! love it, hope they keep it (tip: always ask for no pickles or extra onions or whaterver you likem then you know its hot and fresh!)

Unlike the other posters, I happen to LOVE this burger. about twice per week I end up eating out for supper and in the past 2 weeks have had 3. I hope it becomes a regular menu item.

I had the Bacon and Blue today and it was incredible. Perhaps it is different depending on where you get it. Mine had crispy bacon and nice chunks of bleu cheese. The only thing I may have enjoyed more would be more sautéed onions. My advice is to give it a chance. Because it's a new burger, I'm sure they are working out the kinks.

I'm really surprised no one on here liked the burger. I LOVED it!! I have to limit myself to eating it once a week otherwise i would be there everyday and weigh 300 lbs.

I tried it and found it to be rather disgusting.

I found this blog while looking for the calorie count of this crazy good fast food burger. I eat healthy go to the gym and a bit of a foodie but I broke down and ate fast food when I drove by a Wendy's and saw the banners for the b & b. Wow to all you who though it wasn't any good.
Bare in mind it is fast food and under 5 is not that expensive. It's kind of gourmet for less the 5 bucks!
Good burger and my hats off to Wendy's

Great tasting burger. I feel bad for those who didn't like theirs. Maybe you're not use to Wendy's, that kind of burger, have tastes that don't meet the qualifications of enjoying a burger, or have some sort of prejudice against fast food. Why even comment on a blog about fast food then? This burger is well worth the price as it certainly should fill you up. And for the person who said it didn't look like the burger on the cardboard cutout - well most burgers don't look like the cardboard cutout. And most people don't buy burgers based on how they look but on how they taste. I hope the Bacon & Blue stays around for a long time as it's a great burger. I have yet to try the Steak & Shake version of the burger. Since I don't want to wait 20 minutes for my meal, I'll probably keep trying Wendy's.

I friggin love this burger! Escaping ads for a year by not turning on the tv, I'd essentially avoided all marketing for fast food (which has helped prevent impulse buys). Pandora just so happened to advertise it, and my mouth immediately watered as I love the combo of blue cheese and beef or bison.

YUM! I'm so happy this has less than 700 calories since most do not. For an occasional splurge, it's worth it. I still have 800 calories to use throughout the rest of the day to get in leafy greens, fruit, and lean proteins. I'll take it!

I think this is the best burger I have had at a fast food chain. So, so good. Better than Chili's burgers in my opinion... yikes on the fat, but why whould I be shocked... it's fast food. the occassional burger would be ok.

Try it, yuuuummm.

I work for Wendy's. The Bacon and Blue sandwich does not come with mayo, ketchup, mustard, or pickles. Just thought you should know since you included them on your list after this sandwich.

At our Wendy's in Gurnee IL, the Bacon and Blue was always fresh, the blue cheese was fairly plentiful, and the sauce was awesome. The applewood smoked bacon is a treat also. We began going to Wendy's just about every week for this. Now it's gone and I feel ripped off. Well, we've only been to Wendy's twice since they discontinued it. Maybe they will get the message and bring it back.

I loved it too...but have found that every Wendy's is not the same. Some skimp on the ingredients which changed the flavor. Wonder how to make the steakhouse sauce..anyone know?
