Still no nutrition data from Quizno's

UPDATE: Quizno's has finally published their nutrition data. Read about it and see the data in the Fast Food News article:
"Quizno's nutritional information... finally!"

You can also find Quizno's complete nutrition data here.

It still boggles my mind that Quizno's can get away with not providing nutrition information about their sandwiches. Since Quizno's first appeared on the fast food sandwich horizon, I've pointed out this lack of data in blog posts about Quizno's, on my Fast Food Facts nutrition web site and in my book of the same name. Parke, over at US Food Policy, recently reiterated his comments on this omission, too.

Here's why Quizno's wanting to keep their calories a secret doesn't make sense to me: A potential customer that counts calories (or other data) might eat a company's product after they check the nutrition data, but won't eat it if they discover the company won't reveal the data. Sure, most people don't care and don't check, but others do and those people aren't eating at Quizno's. Isn't that bad for business? And there are a lot of people who check nutrition info before they eat; a half million a month on my web site alone.

I have an e-mail chain back and forth to Quiznos too from a little while ago. It frustrated me to no end that they refused to provide this information on their site and then even when asked by a customer.

If someone really cares about the nutrition facts, why don't you only eat the restaurants who offer the nutrition facts. Or file a law suit agains them and I'm sure everyone else would appreciate if you can get the nutrition facts.

I, too have had no response from them when I e-mailed specific questions. I finally as able to get info on their peppercorn cesar dressing by asking at the store to see the cnotainer. In case you want to know, here it is:
2T= 150cal, 19g Fat, 2g Carbs

I also found nutritional info for many Quizno's products on the website fior the chains in Austraulia

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I have written them twice and gotten back bogus answers just putting me off. I've written in my blog about it, too. My husband and I have lost a great deal of weight by following the American Heart Association's dietary guidelines and by counting calories as we do so. Howie's lost 248 pounds and I've lost 78. We'd definitely get Quizno's more often -- not just on our treat day -- if they disclosed their info.

I have had the same experience. I do count calories, and would eat at Quizno's if I knew how many calories I would be taking in. I also would love to try their new Prime Rib Sandwich, but have no way of knowing how many calories to spend on a sandwich.

I have emailed them numerous times and no response.

It could be a rumor, but I was told that by law, eateries are required to provide nutrition information.

Quizno's has been very nice
and congenial to me. I commented
that I had an allergy to some
food spices in salad dressings
and sauces, and their lead person for the day, was more than glad
to let me read the contents of
one of their PRIME RIB sauces.

That gives you pretty much all the info on the subs.

The link above is for the Austrailian Quizno's site, so the data at: http://www.quiznos.com.au/menu-nutrition.shtml
is only valid for those items served in Austrailia (unfortunately).

I really want to know the nutrition content of their Chicken Carbonara. It sure is tasty, but I can feel my arteries clogging when I eat it. If the BLT is so darned fattening according to the Aussie site, I dare to ask what I have been ingesting with the Carbonara.

The Aussie Quiznos website is useless, because it's not even remotely the same menu.
I too have been e-mailing Quiznos, several times a year for years, trying to get nutritional info.
I think it's very clear why. Their sandwiches taste so good, because they put a whole lot of rather tasty sauces on them, that I'm sure are loaded with fat.
They are afraid to reveal the info, because I suspect some of their items are worse nutritionally than McDonald's!
I like to know what I'm eating, even when I choose to eat something "bad" for me, and until they provide the info, they don't have me as a customer. Their loss.

I just got information that Quizno's bought up all of the COMMERCIAL RIB-EYE in the Denver area this last week. I can only assume they are not using Prime Rib as Advertised but a very low grade of Rib-Eye. If you ask me they are deceiving the public and their franchisee's of what products they are selling. I'm surprised no one has sued them for Misrepresentation and False Advertising.

The only Nutrition Information Quizons offers are http://www.quiznos.com/menu/nutrition.asp for a Small Turkey Lite 334, Calories and a Small Honey Bourbon Chicken, 359 Calories. A Small Quiznos sandwich isn't a lot of food. And if you get thier "Meal" (Sub w/ Chips & Soda) that's 400+ Calories on top of whatever they don't want you to know. Rocket High... Expect to get fat fast

Anonymous said...

let me just clarify on the previous post... that's for a SMALL... and i'm sure they've only posted their healthiest subs... just think of how fattening a Regular or Large sub is

Anonymous said...

Wow! I wanted to add that I have recently (6 weeks ago) started eating at Quiznos twice a week. I weighed 128 lbs. then. After eating SMALL Prime Rib sandwiches (I was HOOKED after the first one), 2 a week for 6 weeks, I am suddenly weighing 141 lbs!!

I didn't make the connection right away. I have never weighed this much! I evaluated what, if any, of my eating habits had changed and BINGO - I realized that I had started eating at Quiznos! I visited their website to try and verify my suspisions, and lo and behold ---NOTHING!! So, I started poking around on the web and found this blog.

Just thought I'd confirm what everyone is saying - these sandwiches must be loaded with fat, possibly even TRANS FAT. Otherwise, Quiznos wouldn't be so reluctant to release this data.

I'm scared to have my cholesterol checked.....I will never eat another Prime Rib sandwich from Quiznos!!

Anonymous said...

I emailed Quiznos about nutrition info and have heard nothing back from them! I cannot believe that they wouldnot want to provide nutrtion info about maybe their salads? I'm sure they're not the healthiest salad around, but seriously!

Anonymous said...

So I"m a Weight Watcher and was slightly annoyed by the missing nutritional information, but had NO idea it was this bad. I was even trying to find the size differences between the "small" and the "regular" and can't even find that! If Quizno's is trying to compete with Subway in this fat-concious society, its no wonder Subway is gaining market share like crazy! I, for one, won't be eating at Quizno's until they WILLINGLY provide the information.

Anonymous said...

It's so irritating when you're counting calories and companies like Quizno's don't give you the info you want. I've been using websites like www.calorie-count.com to generalize what I'm eating, and then adding on calories for additional toppings and whatnot. So it'll say a serving size of a basic caesar salad, and then I have to find calories in caesar dressing, in something similar to that flatbread that comes with, etc. I'm sure I come out counting under what I'm really consuming, but what else is there to do?

Anonymous said...

It's no secret why Quiznos doesn't release their nutritional information. Their subs have more meat and more sauces than Subway's subs and they are scared sh*tless of Subway running an advertising campaign saying that Subawat subs have an average of 25% less fat and calories than Quiznos, or something to that effect. I personally eat there rarely because I have been dieting and strictly count calories, but intuitively when you know what kind of meat is on the sub, and how much sauce or whatever is on it, you can guesstimate what you're looking at calorie wise. There is no way that 1/3 of a sub and the chips or especially the salad (unless maybe it's the angus beef with double meat or something extreme) could be nearly as bad as a BK or a McDonalds value meal, or eating at Pizza Hut or something like that. I would even hazard to guess that the normal 2/3 sandwich thing and chips that most people order would be, at worst, comparable to the Big Mac value meal, etc. I think the real problem is not that the food is exceptionally caloric, but that Quiznos wants to shirk any direct comparison to Subway and Subway wouldn't allow them to duck the comparison...

"Here's why Quizno's wanting to keep their calories a secret doesn't make sense to me: A potential customer that counts calories (or other data) might eat a company's product after they check the nutrition data, but won't eat it if they discover the company won't reveal the data. Here is what I understand as a franchise owner--Nutrition information is being compiled by Quiznos; there are currently no legal requirements to publish this information. However, this information does have to be released by law at some point in 2007 (not sure when). The reason nutrition info. has not been required is mostly for your "mom and pop" diners that would have had a hard time getting this info. together. I would love to have nutrition facts available, but until they are, you can ask your local store to check their dressings (the nutrition facts are on the labels for those), and several stores have a carb count sheet for some of the sandwiches. Hope this helps a little.

I started searching for Quizos nutrition facts today and still cannot find anything other than a few of the most general sandwiches online. Having read what others have written, I too sent them an email, advising them to start allowing access to that information. It makes them look so bad, not having all of that information in public hands. I mean, I like Quiznos better than Subway but at least at Subway I know what I'm eating. I really hope they start noticing the bad publicity they're getting on blogs...

Anonymous said...

If you use the Aussie information as a basis...the regular subs are approx. 1.7 times the calories of the smalls...so at least you can estimate based on the paltry amount of info they give you....
a REG sized honey bourbon comes out to be 610 calories! not worth it.

ok, i'm not sure if i'm reading this correctly....but according to the Australian Quiznos website (http://www.quiznos.com.au/pdfs/NutritionalInfoDL_1.pdf) the small vegetarian sub on whole wheat has 1581 calories??? Please tell me I am converting something incorrectly??? I realize that includes cheese, but what else would make it so high in calories?? Please someone tell me I am not reading this right.....

Anonymous said...

No...you are not reading this right. Fat has 9 calories per gram and carbs and protien have 4, so you can do the math. And, yes, Subway has the nutrition info (thank goodness), but remember that the ones they advertise as under 6 grams of fat have no cheese and absolutely no dressing AND that's only for the small size. Who wants just a piece of bread and meat? I've found it pretty easy to determine approximate calories by each ingredient and using common sense. Obviously, a prime rib sandwich (which comes with double meat)with creamy sauce and cheese is going to be LOADED with fat. Former blogger has it right........ using you own knowledge as a tool.. still better than McDs or BK

I am a franchise owner and I called Quiznos today about eta on a nutrition guide. They said they hope to have it out soon. They've been working on it for a long time, but many of there meats and cheeses come from as many as three different venders by region making it difficult to come up with an across the board guide. Hopefully soon!!!! Good to know they DO care.

Anonymous said...

With regard to the Australian data, please note that the units are not calories, but kJ. Hence the small veggie sub has 1581 kJ which corresponds to 378 cal (nutritional calories that is, 1 nutritional calorie = 1 kcal).
1 cal = 4.185 kJ

They don't care...that's the same excuse Applebee's has been using for years to avoid disclosing the nutritional information of their menu items. Same old song, different singer...they didn't even rearrange the tune.

I'd wager that when it does become a matter of law that these places have to disclose complete nutritional info, places like Quiznos, Applebees, and Montana Mike's are goin to take a MAJOR hit on the bottom line.

Hi -

I just wanted to say that I follow Weight Watchers and they have "Dining Out" guides. I was flipping through one the other day and they had about 20 different menu selections in their guide book from Quiznos. I can tell you this: The Roman Chicken Salad has 16 points (that's almost a day worth of points for many people). I also noticed that a small Mesquite Chicken with Bacon has 9 points, which is apporximately 500 - 650 calories, with fat to be maybe around 11 - 16 grams. I'm just wondering how Weight Watchers was able to get this info and yet we people can't get? If anyone knows a Weight Watchers member, ask them to get you the newest dining out companion book, however it's only a snap shot of what they offer. I was however, quite surprised by waht I saw.

I have been eating Quiznos for lunch and really enjoyed their food . . . . until today. It is now my mission in life to make sure that everyone I know realizes the potential dangers of eating this food. . . I say this since the company won't publish their calorie and fat content information. The excuses the company gives are lame and I for one won't stand for it. I recently started counting calories in efforts to control my weight and eat healthier. I went on their web site today to jot down my lunch intake in my daily food journal and was disheartened to find all of this out. I will never eat there again - and hopefully none of my co-workers, friends or family will either after today. I will make sure of that. We as consumers need to make a stand - we have a right to know what we are eating!

Anonymous said...

Hey folks - tha aussie menu should be enough to convince you all that just about any sandwich at Quizno's (SMALL) is about 800 calories - who cares about the subtleties about whether it's the same menu or not - it's obvious why they are keeping the nutritional info to themselves. Stick with places that post their nutritional info.

Does anyone know the health context of the Honey Mustard Sauce? Im thinkin it can't be that bad cause it on the honey bourbon chicked and that is only 6 grams of fat for a small...if anyone has any info, please let me know

Anonymous said...

Honey Mustard - who knows, but some of their sandwiches that have Honey Mustard Sauce are 1400 calories (OUCH)

Taking a look at different calorie counter places -

Subway Fat Free: 30 calories for 1.5 tablespoons.

Wendys, low Fat: 110 Calories
Dennys, 160 Calories.

Point being that it can be high. Personally, I like Quiznos but won't eat there since you never know what you are ingesting.

If you want to find the calories on Quiznos, go to their Australian site. Just type in Google "quiznos australia" and it should be one of the first links. And they have a full nutritional menu. Also, you will need to convert from KJ to Grams by dividing KJ/ 4.2. Hope this helps.

I would just like to add myself to the long list of people above who vow never to eat at quiznos again. I can't believe they couldn't simply provide me with the nutritional information on their salads when I wrote and asked them for it THREE times. I used to love eating there, and so did my boyfriend who always gets some monster prime rib beefy sandwich thing. Now I'm terrified to even let him eat there because heart attacks run in his family. Even when they do finaly release this information, I still will never eat there again. This is an offense and hazard to the health of the American people and quiznos must be made an example of what happens to unethical businesses. They could at least provide an official date of release on the information. I will always tell every person who says they eat there not to, and I will always speak against the company.

i just ate there thinking it wouldn't be too many calories because i watch what i eat. I was suprised to see this. i got the Burbon hone chicken regular. I called and the subs are 6in, 9in and 11.5 in.....it wasn't too bad what i got had 479 cals and 9gm fat 1.5 gm sat fat and 36gm protein with 4.5 gm fiber...

however it did have 2241mg sodium in it! when the recommend intake is 2400mg!

I'm never eating there again unless they drop their cals and sodium and publish the nutritional data

I am a weight watcher also on the flex plan and enjoy eating at quiznos. I always get the deli tuna with no mayo. It may sound a little crazy but as a weight watcher if you want to fugure the nutritional facts out. Take the sandwich home pull it apart and use the complete companion book and your scale and do what you have to do to estimate the points. If not guess and use it for the weekly allowance points.

I lover their last comment, when I did contact them regardind more info, they said they are working on a full list of nutrition data & it should be out be the end of the year, until then, this is all they have to offer.

I just hung up with Quiznos and tried to pressure them into giving me a date in which they will release their nutritional info. The girl that answered the phone was too busy giggling with someone next to her to answer my questions. I am another that will NOT eat at Quiznos again, until they willingly release the nutritional information that we are entitled to...

Anonymous said...

The real reason should be obvious. Quiznos has so many fat and calories, even if you did know the nutional values you'd avoid it like the plague.

I ate there a few months ago. I love their Primerib steak, and when I was eating it I told myself..ok can't eat this again your asking for a heart attack. With adkins and all the other diets out anyone getting labeled as having to many calories sees a quick drop in sales. Its no secret every.. If people knew a medium steak sandwhich with 3 times the meat and double the cheese, not to mention the sauces were hitting 1200 calories.. no one would eat there..

Hey there quiznos inquiries. I am 100% certain that quiznos subs are more unhealthy than Mcdonalds food by a long shot. The Large classic italian has over 1500 calories. The new ultimate italian has twice the meat and cheese. You can do the math. The large ultimate italian most likely has over 2000 calories. Thats more calories than we need in a day. neither mcdonalds nor bk makes a menu item with that many calories. Let us start a campaign to petition quiznos to bring out nutritional information! We must act now. Not for our own health(we health consious do not eat at quiznos) but for the health of our fellow americans who are down the road towards unsuspected obesity and heart problems. Let us unite in our convictions and expose quiznos for what it is:an terribly unhealthy restaurant posing as a healthy sub place.

-(PS) Lets just say ive got inside sources

Anonymous said...

I am fastinated by this lack of information from these restaurants. In truth they are hiding a very scary fact...their food is so fattening they should be ashamed of themselves! Quiznos is far from being the only company hiding the truth.

TGI Fridays - No Info available to diners. Jack Daniels Cheese Burger 1750 calories. Cheesy Fries are 3015 calories a plate.
Kid's burger meal with Coke is 1150 calories.

Olive Garden - Incomplete information. Pasta Alfrado is 1750 calories.

How can we as consumers, make diet decisions if we cannot get the information?

Anonymous said...

If they post their nutrition content, people won't be able to sue when they are hospitalized or die of heart failure. Come on, use your heads. I've only seen 2 people in this blog attempt to do so. I compare some of the responses in here to those people who filed lawsuits against tobacco companies. You KNOW what foods are healthy and those that are not.

I understand wanting to know the nutritional content of a Quizno's sub. Hence the reason I found this blog. I know that the tasty Classic Italian contains unhealthy dressing, cheese, salami and pepperoni; but I don't scarf down a large (washed down with a Diet Coke, of course), then blame them for not posting a nutrition content when my chest cavity is being cut open.

Does McDonald's ($30B USD and 7% increase in sales for 2005) have to post a nutrition menu to tell you that a Big Mac is not healthy? That's great they have done so, and it would probably benefit Quizno's if they did the same. If anything, it may be to their disadvantage for not posting their content and having to tell people that the Ultimate Italian has more than 40 calories. If Subway added dressing to their subs and used as much meat as Quizno's does, you'd probably have a similar nutritional value. Be sure you are comparing apples to apples. When comparing menus and products, is a 6" Subway sub or a Big Mac the same size/weight/portion as a Large Quizno's sub?

If you're into nutrition, you would know that you should be eating 4-5 light snacks/meals per day, and by light I don't mean X-large sub with X-cheese, chips, X-large soda...you get the idea.

I agree that they should post their nutrition and that it is a bad business decision not to do so, but to ban eating there completely or to suggest filing a lawsuit?? Seriously? Those are your answers?

Quizno's has a few (very few) 'light' items and should expand if they want to compete with other companies. McDonald's profits aren't rising because they are making people eat Big Macs at gunpoint, nor because they stuck to the same menu selections. If Quiznos execs are interested in increasing profit, they will try to tap both the healthy and unhealthy (or, uncaring) markets of customers, in my opinion. Yes, believe it or not, Subway is not baking bread every day only because it will help keep your cholesterol count down, or help you to live past the age of 45.

Anonymous said...

After years of being a diabetic and opting for places to eat like Quizno's as a "healthy choice" it's hard to believe they wouldn't share that information. If McDonal's can do it and make money, Quizno's should be able to figure it out.

I am a franchise owner and I don't believe it's as bad as some of you are making it out to be. My wife and I went straight from being in the Army running daily and doing all types of physical training to owning this restaurant, eating there twice a day every day, and doing no exercise besides what we get working there. Neither one of us has gained a pound. I have owned the restaurant for 7 months now and eat there daily. If what some of you say, we should be 400 pounds by now.

hi i work at a quiznos in ontario and i to was displeased by the lack of nutrition information. All i can tell you from what i have learned is that the cheddar cheese has twice the amount of fat as it does protein and it is the reverse for mozarella. The meat is fresh and that in the carbonara is is about 17 grams of fat for 2 teaspoons of the bacon alfrado sauce. Most of the other sauces range from 8 to 21 grams of fat for the same amount.

Anonymous said...

Guys, please get yourself informed.

KJ is *not* calories. (KJ/4 * .9) is *roughly* calories.

So, let's do some handholding.

Here is the link for the Australian Quiznos information (DON'T PANIC - it's in KJ):

http://web.archive.org/web/20060820004726/http://www.quiznos.com.au/pdfs/NutritionalInfoDL_1.pdf

Note - Quiznos has removed it, but Archive.org lept it.

NOW... DIVIDE all those "Energy" columns by 4, and you have a ROUGH guess at the calories contained in the sandwich (actually about 10% higher, but a good enough guess).

You'll see that yes - they are higher. However:

1) Quiznos large is bigger than Subway large

2) Quiznos puts substantially more meat in their sandwiches

3) Quiznos INCLUDES cheese in their cheese sandwiches - which Subway does not.

Yes, Subway is better for dieters and calorie-conscious (and carb-conscious especially!) people. But please, stop making yourselves look foolish by making statements like "I KNOW that the sandwiches are worse than McDonalds" - because they are not.

I have never been much of a calorie watcher, although lately I have been trying to take off a few pounds. I decided just for the heck of it to check the nutritional facts of the Prime Rib and Peppercorn online. I was shocked to see that Quiznos does not give out this information. I am DONE with Quiznos until they decide to do so.

Anonymous said...

I don't think the issue here is as much about whether or not Quiznos' food is healthy as it is about the fact that they refuse to share nutritional information with consumers. As consumers, we should demand this information. As human beings, we should insist on being aware of what we put into our bodies and our childrens' bodies.

If you feel the same way, stop eating there! If you don't agree, then you're probably filling your body with fast food garbage anyway and this issue shouldn't be of any concern to you.

There is calorie and fat info on about five sandwiches, but it is especially helpful if you are doing Weight Watchers because the Point values are calculated for almost everything they have on the menu. It would be nice to know the calories too, but something is better than nothing. Enjoy!!

As a former employee of Quiznos i can tell you that all of your concerns are definatly warrented...their food is so greasy and fatty...anyone who is trying to lose weight should definaly not eat there. Also i would like to stress the fact that 1st hand i have seen my co-workers and managers using the 5 second rule, using food that is expired, and just about any other nasty scenario that one could imagine in my experience working at Quiznos. All i can say to you people is that the Quiznos motto is "Freshness and Quality ingredients". This is totatlly dependant on the type of scum that is working at ANY fast food restraunt. My suggestion: if you are really too lazy to make your own food then you might want to choose an establisment with more credible looking employees and not some fast food joint with a bunch of prick kids and a manager that dropped out in 10th grade. That being said dont say i didnt warn you when u get diareah and are throwing up from eating quiznos/most fast food places.

Have a nice day.

I looked up the nutrition facts for the subs and the regular size subs are just as bad for you if not worse than mcdonalds. If you take the amount of fat and sodium in these sandwiches they will kill you twice as fast as a double quarter pounder with cheese. Quiznos outta be ashamed of it's self. Those who say that these sandwiches taste good might as well eat mcdonalds. As for the Army couple who dont exercise and eat this twice a day this will catch up with you when you metabolism gets low as it will if you continue like this.

This really annoys me. I ate there today (I just had a small honey ham sub sans dressing) and I got online to try and find out the nutrition information, only to find that it isn't available! I think I will be sticking to Subway from now on...

Anonymous said...

Oh and I forgot to add, Quiznos Sub = overpriced high calorie sandwich that makes you run to the bathroom a few hours later! Or thats what it did to me,anyway!!!

I too am disappointed that I cannot find nutritional information on Quizno's subs. I did email them a question, but have yet to hear back. I will probably be an official diabetic as of Friday, so carbs are my main concern. (I'm not overweight, my total cholesterol is too low to measure, so fat and calories aren't so important). I have to eat 160-200 grams of carbs a day before Friday (for my OGTT) and need to know how many carbs I'm eating. I also have to spread carbs out a lot, so my BG doesn't spike too badly. sigh. I think I'll stick to subway, and cooking in my kitchen. I do love an occasional turkey swiss and ranch from Quzno's, but if I can't know what is in it, I can't eat it, since I won't know how to adjust meds etc. for it. sigh.

I ### Quiznos

I stumbled across this website while looking for Quizno's nonexistant nutrition info. I've read what everyone has said, and someone needs to corner the Quizno's CEO or something and show them this website. Let them read all the comments about how many people, including myself, won't/can't eat there because they won't cough up the info. I LOVE their food, but I can't risk eating there anymore if I don't know how many calories I'm taking in. And they really are suffering in business, because they aren't just losing us calorie-counters, theyre losing our families and stuff too. Like for example, since I can't eat there, I won't buy my family lunch from there every weekend anymore.

On the other hand, if http://www.dwlz.com/Restaurants/quiznos.html
is legit, the calories in the subs are relativly low. 300 average for a regular sub, not bad.

But I won't believe it till I see it from the quiznos people themselves.

Its their loss.

My best friend suggested that tomorrow we go to lunch at quiznos. I love thier subs, but recently started dieting and am trying to stay away from carbs and low on calories. I then decided to prepare myself for tomorrow and look on line to check out the nutrition info on the salads. I am aware that there is cheese and bacon on everything, so I wanted to get an idea of what I could get and what the caloric price would be. That search led me to this web site, and I am appaled that there is no definate info for Quiznos. I then proptly e-mailed this site and my complaints to the following news programs in hopes to get the news out there. Maybe if others also sent e-mails with thier outrage, someone will investigate and expose them causing America to take notice. Here are some of the e-mails I sent to:

If you really want to know how much calories and what-not are in a sandwich, become an employee at a local Quiznos. All of the food comes in packaged with nutritional information provided. Some simple math and there you go.

As far as being unhealthy, I have been working at a Quiznos resturant for almost two years, eating an average of 3 subs a week, and I have not gain any weight. Of course this isn't three large Prime Ribs a week. Just because a company offers a food that has an outrageous amount of fat and calories does not mean you should go out and eat it every day.

This post has inspired me to figure out the nutritional information for all of the sandwhiches offered in the US. Or at least in my region (Arkansas).

Quizno's was pretty new when it came to my town a few years ago, and my boyfriend and I were eating there fairly regularly--2-3 subs a week. Jump to last year, and my weight had gone up almost 40 lbs eating SMALL SANDWICHES (I'm only 5'0" tall!) and my boyfriend's had gone up 70 lbs! A quick investigation (ridiculously quick since Quizno's doesn't disclose info that they're legally obligated to) made us drop the habit, and my boyfriend and I have been dropping the weight steadily since.

And seriously, if I wanted to know the the nutritional info of their squicky food, it's VERY unlikely that I'll apply to work there and handle said squicky food. Eww.

Anonymous said...

ok, so I'm pretty ticked off right now and am going to boycott Quizno's. There is a Quizno's near my office in Miami and I ended up going there for lunch today. I was very upset afterward when I tried to look up nutritional info about their products. If they won't share that info, they I won't spend my money there. Hope other health-conscious folks will do same.

Anonymous said...

I am not pleased. I won't be eating at this place until they release their nutrition info, and perhaps not even then. I don't appreciate this kind of business practice.

Plus the last time I ate there, it made me SICK! I had to RUSH HOME to get to the bathroom, if you get what I'm saying! NOT fun!!!

I usually hate government regulation, but this needs to be fixed. Every national franchised restaurant should be required to show nutritional data for all their menu items. I'd say private market should do it, but if a website opened up with independent analysis, not only would it be expensive, but it would also get sued out of existance by these very companies.

Chipotle had the same problem, but luckily an unaffiliated site had a nice food calculator for their menu. Sucks that it isnt official.

Keep emailing Quiznos. I'll be mailing them every month, and the news email adresses were a good idea. Email them too! TV news loves to do stories on stuff like this, since the general public can relate to being fat, and love to be told its all the restaurants faults (its not, but they certainly dont make it easy to lose weight).

Right there with everyone else...went to look for nutritional info at Quiznos and couldn't find anything. Will not be eating there again. Subway is here to stay in my family. Amazing when every place is held accountable for what they put in their food that Quiznos can get away with witholding information. Get with the program Quiznos, for the most part, people are interested in what they are eating.

I feel ripped off but good. My husband asked me to go to quizno's to get him one of the heavily advertised Prime Rib on Garlic Bread sandwiches. We usually have a SubWay sandwich once a week and I have the veggie which fits into my 400 cal lunch plan. I was shocked to get to the Quiznos' and find no nutrition info, but got us regular size sandwiches, anyway. For one thing, the regulars look like the larges at Subway, so that's one problem. Then when I come home and try to google the nutrients so i can have a clue on how many cals i had a lunch, zippo info, really. No wonder the veggie tasted so good--i did see him put on 4 sliced of cheese instead of the 2 tiny triangle at Subway, so that is my fault, but overall I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE UNTIL THEY HAVE A NUTRIENT SHEET AVAILABLE AT THEIR STORE--AND ADVERTISE SUCH ON TV.

BAH HUMBUG!

Anonymous said...

Those prime ribs are damn good but the one I had today will be my last. It's not a surprise that the calories and saturated fat are astronomical.

What bothers me is that almost all regular subs have more sodium than the daily 2000 calorie recommendation.

And you know they're probably loaded with trans fat too. So when they finally do come out with the info, there will be a whole new demographic that refuses to eat there.

Anonymous said...

You can find many of Quiznos nutrition facts at calorieking.com It was very informative. Couldn't find the newer items on their menu but the majority I believe is there. Also, I spoke to Quiznos customer service and the representative said nutrition facts will be on their site in a week or two...who knows.

I ate at Quiznos today for the first time. I got a delicious bread bowl. I count my calories religiously, and figured the bread bowl with soup was probably a good chunk of my daily calories. Perhaps as much as 800-1000 cals. So, like I do with all fast foods, went to their web site...to discover NO nutritional info! My mind is blown! I will never eat there again. I have a set caloric intake and if I don't know what I'm eating...I won't eat it!

Anonymous said...

I don't bother about calories. I had a quadruple bypass ten years ago and have to control the fat in my diet. I'm on cholesterol lowering drugs as well to avoid, or at least delay, death from a heart attack. The Quizno's honey bourbon chicken was featured in a Consumer Reports magazine a couple years back as low in fat and high in taste. I have one occasionally, but won't eat anything else at Quizno's. I occasionally eat at Applebee's, as they show the fat content of several menu items, but cannot eat at TGI Fridays because they won't release info on their menu offerings. Those of us with heart problems are very limited in places to eat until restaurants are willing to give out the info about fat content. It's a life or death situation for some of us, and I guess some restaurant owners don't care whether or not their customers die early due to their food.

It seems to me, from their advertising, that Quizno's is intentionally trying to be the "anti-Subway," with a Hardee's Monster Burger angle. In other words, "be a man, eat meat, who cares if it's bad for you, it tastes good!"

Quizno's is doing this on purpose...they obviously don't care about the diet crowd. That's fine...I like Subway better anyway.

No one said that they eat fast food every day, they simply want to be able to make the best choice when they do have to eat something quick and easy on a busy day. Are you really that dumb?

i used to eat quiznos for dinner at work for about a month. Lg. Prime rib cheesteak... and i gained 25 pounds (beforei cared about watching my weight) lol

I would not reccomend them to anyone, even their salads have more fat then subways subs

and they dont legally have to post that info if some of you are thinking that..that bill got shot down again this year

dude if you eat a large Prime rib chessesteak 5 days a week for a month, you would gain 25 lbs, theres 12 oz of prime rib in a large,,,, ummm so there ya go.

After reading all of this, I am really disappointed to here all the negative vibes. I too am trying to find info for the calories on the Prime Rib on Garlic Bread, but this is not going to keep me from eating it. I would stop first b/c my money was depleating before my weight was affected.

I just would like to know the cal intake, so I can figure out how many days a week I can eat there. I am addicted and let me tell you, for someone who does not partake in drugs, this is the least of my worries. There are plenty of bad and more harmful addictions that I could have picked up.

I still love quiznos, but I do wish the cal info would be posted.

Most all of the food except for the chips and some of the dressings do not have any nutritional info on them when we receive them. That info was removed several years ago.

How do you think this mums the word makes us owners feel? Our job is to please the customer and meet their needs.

But we have no nutritional info ourselves and the customers get angry with us for something that is out of our control.

You all would hate to see what we should price our food at, if you think it is high now, as this corporation screws us at ever turn and so overcharges us that I consider it criminal.

Most of us owners are pretty much penniless and trying to leave the system. But then if you do, you get sued for the corp loosing your royalties.

They are liars and schemers and I can't wait for the day when I am rid of them. Of course i will be bankrupt but hopefully retain my sanity.

what i want to know is why anyone likes this terrible food in the first place. i've tried it four times--keep trying new subs--and each time it ends up in the garbage. the food has no actual flavor. what you're tasting is a mask of extreme sodium. i don't understand how it could possibly leave anyone licking their lips for more.

i had to try it four times to be sure, but it's true. the ingredients are flavorless. they ramp up the sodium to trick you into thinking the food has flavor. it surprises me that more people can't discern the difference between actual flavor and tricks. the sandwiches LOOK good, and sound good--there's some attempt at variety there. but ultimately--haha--no taste! salt, just salt!

americans, stand up. this is some of the least-tastiest food on the entire planet. stand up for real, quality ingredients. i really wish quiznos would just go away.

You can find what you want on dietfacts.com. Just key in quiznos sub salad or soup.

I like how when you google "quiznos nutritional information" the quiznos website comes up saying it has nutritional information...but if you go where it says all it tells you is the basic ingredients in the food. Igredients are not the same as nutritional information Quiznos!

I wanted to know because the broccoli cheese soup is so heavenly I knew it must be terrible for you but surprisingly (judging by the autralian site anyway) it is only about 9g fat for the small and 14 for the large - which is a relief but my other favorite, the Turkey Ranch& Swiss is 48 freaking grams of fat and almost a thousand calories!!! That is worse than a McD's double quarter pounder with cheese! For shame Quiznos, for shame!

Quiznos Clam Chowder:
My wife and I used to eat at Quiznos and on several visits
mentioned that their soup was not hot and they would always say that they check it all the time.
Well, the last time we ate their my Clam Chowder was luke warm and
after eating it I mentioned it to the manager/owner that the soup was good but not very hot.
That night and the next day I was sicker than a dog and I mean real sick.
I sent an email to corporate and they had the manager call me and offer 2 free meals and never said sorry or had any feelings for me getting sick at all.
As far as nutrition goes they don't care. Their food must be loaded with calories and fat. Sure it may taste good but in the long run is it really good for you.

According to CalorieKing.com, here are the numbers on Quizno's flatbread salads (Roasted Chicken with Honey Mustard, without dressing -- equivalent to Raspberry Chipotle Chicken, without the dressing):

743 cals, 33g Fat (12g Sat fat), 125 mg Cholesterol, 1108 mg Sodium, 57g Carbs (5g dietary fiber), 53g Protein

Hope this helps--I know it was an eyeopener for me!

Just checked my "calorie King" book and it makes a disclaimer at the end of the quizno's listing that says "Note: figures are only estimates"

Guess they had a hard time getting the real scoop from Quiznos also.

As a calorie counter, I will not eat what I cannot count.

Anonymous said...

I work at a Quiznos and I want to tell people to take a chill pill. Yes,the food may be more unhealthy than Subway, but that is because we use real meat and cheese and the sauces can be bad. Use your common sense really-- everyone knows that mayo isn't good for you. I wish I had the nutritional info for you, but until then skip the sauce and ask for mustard, leave off the cheese or guac, that kind of thing. In general, things like chicken, turkey, and ham are better than steak or prime rib. The steak and prime rib are of the highest quality and sometimes that means more fat, I guess. As for the fact, that some say Quiznos is breaking the law, that isn't true. I ma sure that there is a deadline- I have heard by the end of 2007 and it does truly take time to compile the data. Until then don't avoid coming but simply make healthy choices like the ones I mentioned above.

Also, remember that each Quiznos is run individually. Don't bash all the stores because of a bad experience at one.

I hope that helps!

I hadn't been to a Quiznos in about a year, but stopped in for a salad today! Yummy!!! I knew it had to be a ton of calories for a salad and went to the website. Very disappointed at the lack of info. There's also a McDonalds I can go to across the street, and I pretty much know what the calories/fat/etc. will be based on their charts. I can have as much there or less than that salad, though variety is the "spice" of life. It maybe 700 plus calories, but it beats a lot of what I was eating, and I enjoyed it!!!! Maybe a double hamburger and a parfait at McD's next time. A salad next week, and the fruit and veggie bar a few days in-between.

To the person who claimed they gained 13 lbs because they ate there twice a week for six weeks eating a small prime rib...get real!
You are NOT going to gain 13 lbs by eating the equivalent of a large sandwich once a week for six weeks.
There must be something other than that that contributed to your weight gain, something you neglected to mention perhaps.

I just ate a country french soup breadbowl with roasted chicken and broccoli. However, Panera kicks Quizno's soup bowl butt all the way down the block. Panera tastes 1,000 better. And I think Panera has a book that anyone can open and find their nutrition facts and ingredients. And, if Panera kicks Quizno's butt all the way down the block for flavor, apparently, Subway kicks Quizno's butt for low calories. Quizno's, why can't I find your nutrition facts? That makes me totally not trust you. I will never, ever eat there again, if I can help it. Instead, I'll go where I can count calories and know what in the heck I'm eating. Isn't that my right? If I'm paying for the food, I should know what I'm eating.

I've worked at a Quiznos for a little over a year now and I think it's ridiculous that we have no information available. I was told we're supposed to tell people it's online, but I've had people complain it's not, and even checked it out myself. All I can do is apologize to people about not having any nutrition facts available. The creamy bacon alfredo and peppercorn sauces are definitely two of the worst though.

My daughter must count carbs in order to correctly dose her insulin with her meals (she has type 1 diabetes). Sadly, nutritional information on kid's meals is virtually non-existent when it comes to places like Quizno's. Sure CalorieKing has info about some of the food served at Quizno's, but nothing pertaining to kids meals. If McDonald's can put nutritional info on the side of their happy meals, why can't Quizno's offer information on their website?

I recently asked a Quizno's in Woodland Hills, CA for the nutritional information. The guy behind the counter barely spoke broken English and didn't understand what I was asking. I asked the other worker and was wrongfully told that it was available online.

Anonymous said...

As a member of Management for the local Quizno's in my area, let me shead a little light on this subject. Quizno's, as a company, decided NOT to post nutritionial information as a way to steer clear of the entire 'Healthy/Non-Healthy' label. Quiznos Subs offers a wide varity of great tasting subs and salads, and feel that our products sell just fine without the add "Blah blah blah" of daily life. IF you are one of the few who decided to suddenly change your eating habbits after 30-years of not caring what you eat, then stick to your SlimFast and Weight Watchers diets. Real food may have fat, but eating that diet crap will kill you faster in the end. Why is this? Because your body has grown adjusted to regular intake of the fatty substances which you are now depriving it of. This is why most people who go on diets suddently develop diabeties, high/low blood pressure, or other severe health problems. I may only be 26-years-old, but I weigh in at 160 pounds at six foot, three inches, and have never ate a so-called "heathy" meal in my life. As for you people with food alergies, just assume that most products are peanut-oil based.

Anonymous said...

So far all they are saying is that the info will be published in the fall of 2007. Hopefully it comes out soon because it is ridiculous for a national chain not to have this information available.

Basically you're looking at somewhere near 1000 calories for something like a large Prime Rib cheesesteak. It might even be more than this but my estimates would be 50g of protein (200 kcals), 80g of carbs (320 kcals), and probably 50g of fat (450 kcals). Specifics like saturated fat levels, sodium, and sugar are too variable to guess on. You don't have to be a food scientist to know that a large prime rib cheesesteak from Quiznos isn't the best thing for you. Still, they're delicious and all things in moderation.

Also, to the poster who noted that they don't use prime grade meat. NO prime rib that you get in a restaurant that is under $50 a plate is actual USDA Prime meat. "Prime rib" is just a name, and has nothing to do with the USDA grade of beef.

Quiznos gives me the RUNS so I don't eat there anyway! SICK!!!!!! This is a bad thing though because now I wouldn't eat there even if their crappy food didn't give me diarrhea!

Anonymous said...

Hey, diarrhea is a surefire way to lose weight!

But, here is a clue...if you are really trying to lose weight, you probably shouldn't be in a sub shop.

If you somehow get dragged into Quizno's, get a small Honey Bourbon Chicken, which is less than 360 cals, and whose nutritional data is well documented on the Internet.

If you are friends with the owner, as I am, ask for the small Turkey Lite. It is no longer on the menu, but s/he probably still knows how to make it, and it has less than 340 calories.

And "knowing how to make it" is the real issue, IMO, between Quizno’s and Subways.

If you go Quizno’s, if you name the sandwich, tell them what kind and size roll you want, go to the register and wait to pay, they will probably bring you a pretty consistent product, just as described on the menu.

At Subway, you start there, but the people behind the counter have no idea how to make the sandwich. You can ask for a BLT, but if you asked to substitute beef for bacon, liverwurst for lettuce, or tamales for tomatoes, if they had it, they would probably do it. All the nutritional information posted isn’t worth a hill of beans, because their people have NO idea, once the meat is added, what to put on, and how much. You have to tell them! And if you say, “I want the kind of sandwich Jered eats”, or “I am trying to lose weight,” they will simply tell you that once you chose the low fat options for the meat and cheese, you can put whatever you want in the sandwich, because it will still be “low fat.” [Apparently they really believe that “calories don’t count”…]

When I have the choice, I still prefer Quizno’s. At least they know what they are doing.

UMMMMMMMMM who is the idiot in management up there who "thinks" he has the key to a healthy life style in eating habits??????? OBVIOUSLY he hasn't a clue on WW. Won't argue the Slimfast comment though. This is why most people who go on diets suddently develop diabeties, high/low blood pressure, or other severe health problems." UGH!! ENJOY your high motabolism while you have it one day you will hit middle age and then come back here and tell us about fatty foods and healthy eating.

This is exactly as it appears on their website on 9/19/07... "Nutritional information will be available on Quiznos.com in the Fall of 2007."

Anonymous said...

Quizno's uses a lot of sauces, which I'm sure are loaded with High Fructose Corn Syrup, which is worse for you than sugar. Sugar is what makes you fat, and HFCS makes you fatter. Not to mention the associated risk of diabetes.

If they won't release what's in their food I wouldn't eat there (and I don't.)

The Australian site mentioned is worthless, as they are probably not even permitted to use HFCS. And if they were permitted to, they wouldn't use it because sugar would probably be cheaper for them. Also, portions in other countries are much smaller than they are in the States. In England, all of the fast food places we went to, their "large" fry was the equivalent of a medium french fry in the States. Same with the drinks.

You want to know what's in your food, make it yourself. That's really the healthiest way to eat.

Anonymous said...

I am an insulin dependent diabetic and cannot eat anything that doesn't give me both a calorie and carbohydrfate count. Why is that Quizno's REFUSES to put this on their site for ALL their products? Isn't there a Federal Law that requires it?

I was hoping to treat myself with half of a Baja Chicken from Quizno's, but it appears that will never happen. It is just completely wrong that they won't release this information. I like the post about emailing the news channels. I think this is a great idea and I am going to email them too. I'll miss the Baja Chicken. : (
